Chuck Knox, Legacy Coach for the Baptist Resource Network, has a degree in engineering from Penn State in 1970. He worked in construction management from 1970-1982 in precast concrete, Rolling Mill equipment, glass and aluminum store front, and commercial and residential arenas. Afterwards, he worked in the insurance and investment field from 1982-1997. He served internally for a local Mutual Insurance Company and then owned and operated his own insurance and investment firm. During this time, he completed the College of Financial Planning professional education and became certified as a Registered Financial Planner. While serving in this field, he realized that many of his clients, some of which were Christians, had not taken the time to plan for what would happen if something happened to cut their lives short. So, he began encouraging them to make that a priority. He also found that many of these clients wanted to leave a gift at the end of their lives to a ministry of some type and were not aware of the cost of dying. As he worked with their chosen ministries, he found that these ministries had less knowledge about end-of-life gift than the clients did.
In 1997, he sold his agency and began consulting full-time with Christian ministries to help them educate and motivate their donors about how to make those end-of-life gifts in a way that would benefit their heirs and the ministry at the same time. In 2010, he took a position with a church lending ministry on the West Coast to take a workshop he had been presenting nationally. He traveled throughout the United States, speaking at churches, campgrounds and any other place where Christians gathered. The purpose was to motivate and educate Christians in how they could maximize the end-of-life gifts to their heirs, minimize the amount their estate would be reduced by taxes and fees, and give significant gifts to ministries as well.
He retired from traveling and full-time ministry at the end of 2018 and thought God was finished with him. He had only been retired for four months when the leadership of the church he and his wife attended asked if he would serve as their Stewardship Coach and continue to offer the same workshop to those in their community. He has been doing 4-5 workshops each year since. As a member of the BRN, Harvest offered his service to BRN and the member churches, which resulted in his new role as Legacy Coach. Chuck is married and still in love with his wife after more than 49 years. They have three adult children and eight grandchildren. His goal is to continue to serve our Lord as long as He gives him breath in whatever capacity He would have for him. If he could be of any assistance in helping you individually or your church, he would consider it a privilege.
