In their new book, Larry Anderson, director of healthy churches for the Baptist Resource Network, and Kyle Canty, Send Philly missionary/church planting catalyst for the North American Mission Board, challenge church members to think outside the box–or rather outside the church–when considering how to live out the true mission of God.
The pastors, who lead Great Commission Church in Philadelphia, explored missional engagement outside the four walls of church in their debut book, “Ask Me Why I’m Not in Church: A Call for the Church to Get out of the Building,” now available on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and WestBow Press.
“We wrote the book, because we were really struggling with doing church as usual, coming in, having worship, and everybody acting like everything is going great inside the building,” explained Anderson, “when outside the building, we’re looking at… crime, abortion, unemployment, under education, over incarceration… so many problems and struggles within our community.”
Through scripture (the biblical narrative), this book challenges, equips, and deploys the body of Christ into the true mission of God. You will either be convicted and put the book down or you will be totally motivated to stop doing church as usual and assume your role in being an ambassador for Christ.
