Week of Prayer for North American Missions

The North American Mission Board (NAMB) serves a diverse and complex region comprised of the United States, Canada and U.S. territories of Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands, Guam, and American Samoa.

Here, the North American Mission Board sees a mission field that needs the hope of the gospel. With your partnership, we’re committed to taking this hope to cities, small towns, and college campuses.

Your prayers and gifts to the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering® provide support for more than 3,000 missionary families serving across the United States and Canada. These men and women are planting new churches in unreached communities and meeting needs through compassion ministries. Every day, lives are being impacted and transformed.

The needs are great, but the living hope of Christ is greater. Thank you for reaching out with hope to your own community and for your passionate support for North American Missions.

Week of Prayer

The Week of Prayer is annually observed by SBC churches to pray for missionaries, their ministries and their families. This year, the official date for the Week of Prayer is March 2-9. Your church can choose this date or another time during the Easter season to participate. To follow the daily prayer requests, use this page or download NAMB’s prayer guide.

Day One: The Real Jesus | Provo, Utah

Provo, Utah is, according to David Gaskins, “the heartbeat and hub of the Mormon church.” And yet, in what might be the most unchurched city in North America, where evangelicals make up only 0.5% of the population, David and his wife Sara have helped start a church that’s now sharing the true gospel with people who desperately need to know the story of Jesus. Pray For:

God to call more missionaries who will share the gospel with people in Utah.
Wisdom, humility, and boldness for David and the other pastors at Mosaic Church.
God to grow David and Sara closer together while they live and serve in a difficult place.

Day Two: Let Us Do Good | Flint, Michigan

It wasn’t that long ago that Leo and Miosha Robinson’s Flint, Michigan neighborhood had almost no gospel witness and absolutely no laundromats. Those two seemingly unrelated things came together when Leo and Miosha planted Good Church and then started Good Laundry. Now, in a community that was once 80% unchurched, they’re meeting a physical need, building witnessing relationships, baptizing new believers, and seeing God change lives. Meet Leo and Miosha…

Pray For:

The development and discipleship of new leaders at Good Church.
People in Flint who’ve experienced pain and trauma, that Good Church would be able to meet them with the hope of the gospel.
The large number of teenagers in the neighborhood who are hearing the gospel for the first time.

Day Three: Gospel Deployment | Sneads Ferry, North Carolina

After serving as an active-duty Marine for 20 years, Joshua Brown knows what it means to be sent. So, there might not be anyone better suited to plant a church outside Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune than Joshua and his wife Brittany. When military families here meet Christ, get discipled, and then are deployed or reassigned, they’re able to take the gospel to places many people will never be able to go. Meet Josh and Brittany…

A team being sent out to plant Pillar Church Fayetteville, near Fort Liberty (formerly Fort Bragg).
God to call more church planters who can reach other under-served military communities.
God to raise up new leaders at Pillar Church Topsail as current leaders get deployed or reassigned.

Day Four: Married to the Marines | Sneads Ferry, North Carolina

The separation, the worry, the what-feels-like-single-parenting—Brittany Brown knows what it’s like to be married to the military. She and her husband Joshua, who was an active-duty Marine for 20 years, are now church planting missionaries in Sneads Ferry, North Carolina. In the church they planted just outside Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, Brittany’s past experience uniquely equips her to share the gospel with military wives. Meet Brittany and a Military Wife…

Acts of kindness and service to be done in such a way that gospel conversations will naturally occur.
The people at Pillar Church Topsail to find and connect with lost families in their community.
Families who leave Pillar Church Topsail when they’re reassigned to other military bases will find caring churches where they can grow in the community.

Day Five: Connecting The Dots | Langley, British Columbia

Christian and Laura Rowland were understandably nervous when they left their home in Texas and moved to Canada to plant a church in the Vancouver suburb of Langley. After all, they knew no one there. But now that they’ve planted New Song Community Church in a community that until recently, had almost no gospel witness, they can look back and realize how God used everything in their lives to perfectly prepare them for the work he called them to do. Day Six: On The Border | Laredo, Texas

For Osvaldo and Vanessa Lerma, location is everything. The Lermas serve at the Send Relief Ministry Center in Laredo, Texas, just a few miles from one of the busiest international border crossings in the world. They minister alongside volunteer mission teams, showing them how to meet physical needs and share gospel hope with refugees who are legally entering the U.S. to seek asylum. Osvaldo and Vanessa’s endurance as they serve refugees in Laredo in this challenging time.
Mission teams to learn lessons in Laredo that will make them more effective gospel witnesses in their own communities.
Refugees who are resettled elsewhere to connect with local churches who will compassionately share the love of Christ with them.

Day Seven: Circuit Riders | Bar Nunn, Wyoming

There are 203 cities and towns in Wyoming. More than 60 don’t have a church of any kind. That’s why Tyler Martin is training men how to make Jesus known in Wyoming’s unreached places. Tyler and his wife Ashley planted Outfitter Church in Bar Nunn, Wyoming, just a few years ago. Now, Tyler says the planters who’ll one day take the gospel to all those other Wyoming towns will come from churches like Outfitter. Meet Tyler and Ashley…

Pray For:

God to raise up more men at Outfitter Church to take the gospel to more unchurched communities.
The endurance and perseverance required to start and grow church plants in remote, hard-to-get-to places.
Other churches in Wyoming to recognize and respond to the gospel needs around them.

Day Eight: The Other Side | Bar Nunn, Wyoming

Choices for meeting space are limited in Bar Nunn, Wyoming. That’s why Tyler and Ashley Martin ended up planting a church at the Hangar Bar and Grill. As it turns out, that was the perfect place to draw in people like Trent Fetherston, a self-described “wild dude” who’d been “kicked out of every bar in town.” Trent knew all about the Hangar. But he knew nothing about Jesus until he showed up at what is now Outfitter Church. Meet the Martins and Trent…
