Hello BRN Family, it is good to be with you today.
I want to talk about a powerful concept that has the potential to ignite spiritual revival and societal transformation—holy discontent.
In the book of Amos, God speaks through the prophet with words of strong rebuke to His people:
“I hate, I despise your religious festivals; your assemblies are a stench to me. Even though you bring me burnt offerings and grain offerings, I will not accept them. Though you bring choice fellowship offerings, I will have no regard for them. Away with the noise of your songs! I will not listen to the music of your harps. But let justice roll on like a river, righteousness like a never-failing stream!” (Amos 5:21-24, NIV)
In this passage, God is voicing His holy discontent with the empty rituals and superficial worship of His people. Despite their religious offerings and sacrifices, God is not pleased because their hearts are not aligned with His will. He desires justice, righteousness, and true transformation—not mere outward displays of piety. This passage challenges us to examine our own lives and our worship, asking ourselves: Are we truly living in alignment with God’s call for justice and righteousness?
Holy discontent—a godly dissatisfaction with the status quo—has the power to fuel a movement of change. When we feel disturbed by sin, injustice, or spiritual apathy, it becomes a driving force that pushes us to seek God’s will, both in our personal lives and in the world around us. Throughout history, this type of discontent has been the precursor to some of the most significant spiritual and social movements. It has sparked revival, driven reform, and catalyzed justice. Let’s pray for God to give us a holy discontent. Next week I will be back to share why holy discontent is so vital for a movement of God.
Thank you, and may God bless you as always!
