ERIE, Pa., (BRN) – Before God brought Pastor Brandon Hancock and his family to Millcreek Community Church (MCC), he was serving at Starkey Road Baptist Church in Seminole, Florida. He served there for nine years, first as the Student Ministry Pastor and then as the Small Group and Discipleship Pastor. It was just last year when Hancock felt God moving him to pray with his wife, Emily, about where He would have them go next.
“We were praying to be obedient to wherever and whenever that would be,” said Hancock.
It was around that time when Hancock was connected with Restored Church Lead Pastor Tim Walker. Walker had heard about Millcreek and mentioned the position to Hancock.
“He (Walker) then put me in contact with Barry Whitworth, who connected me with the Elder team at Millcreek.”
After a few conversations and interviews with the Elders at MCC, Hancock was hired as the church’s new senior pastor.
On Oct. 9, Brandon and Emily along with their three daughters – Payton (5), Camryn (3) and Jordyn (1) – were welcomed to Erie, Pa., by the Millcreek Community Church family. Brandon was then commissioned at MCC on Oct. 16.
In his new pastoral role, Hancock hopes to nurture a culture of discipleship, something he is “extremely passionate about.”
“It is always such an encouragement to see people who are discipled and growing in their faith. God has called us to make disciples and I believe one of the primary functions of the church is to train up and disciple believers who train up and disciple others,” said Hancock.
“I hope to help this process at Millcreek by giving increased guidance to their current discipleship groups and through offering training to the leaders of those groups.”
Ways to Pray for the Hancock Family:
- Pray that the Hancock family will adjust well to their new environment and home (Pennsylvania is much different than Florida!)
- Pray that God would establish Pastor Hancock’s steps and guide his leadership as he leads the MCC congregation
- Pray that he would have wisdom to lead and guide MCC towards godliness
- Pray for his wife and three little girls as they support Pastor Hancock in this new position and join the MCC family in serving the Erie community
