CORRY, Pa., (BRN) – The faint scent of aftershave and neatly arranged shampoo bottles were the start of humble beginnings for Harvest Community Church – Corry in 2022, when the young church plant first began meeting at Deluxe Barber Co. in downtown Corry, Pennsylvania.

Originally sent by Edinboro Community Church located in Edinboro, Pennsylvania, Harvest Community Church has continued to grow and thrive under the direction of planter and lead pastor Cam Atha. Atha is a church planter through the North American Mission Board (NAMB).

In 2024, Harvest obtained its own building in the quaint, northwestern town of Corry and officially launched on April 7, 2024.

At its launch, Harvest had a steady crowd of 20 people, which quickly multiplied during the church’s first nine months of being in its new building. As of the first week of January, Harvest has 120 people in attendance.

Atha described the church’s demographic as “a little melting pot,” explaining that the church primarily ministers to young families, but has a good mix.

“The Lord has placed young people in our life, and that’s who we continue to engage in the Corry community,” said Atha.

In the hopes of engaging these young families, Harvest Community Church – Corry is planning a large outreach project for the spring and summer.

“Lord willing, we have acquired the lease to five-acres of property behind our church building with plans for a softball field, and city park, as a platform for community events,” shared Atha.

Atha himself has a passion for ministering to young families as he and his wife, Kara, of 15 years are raising five children (one set of twins) and walking through a similar season.

Prior to planting Harvest, Atha worked in physical therapy for over a decade, coached middle school basketball and played college basketball.

Atha and Harvest Community Church – Corry officially affiliated with the Baptist Resource Network (BRN) last month (January 2025.)

In partnering with the BRN, Atha expressed that he is most excited for “the guidance, structure and support.”

“I have never planted a church before. I need all the help I can get, and everyone I have come in contact with has been nothing but supportive and helpful, and I have avoided many pitfalls in the process thus far,” said Atha.
