PETROLIA, Pa., (BRN) – With tears in her eyes, she shared the following, “It’s so easy to get caught up in doing your own thing. It ‘s so easy to get comfortable and stop reaching out and serving our community.”
That was one of our (Harvest Community Church – Petroleum Valley Campus ) members’ response when she saw the crowd that greeted us on the last day of our Kidzfest (VBS) outreach.
Monday through Thursday of Kidzfest, we hosted approximately 40 children between the ages of three and sixth grade – 2/3 of which were children not connected to Harvest Church. They were immersed in games, crafts, snacks and gospel stories focused on the sanctity of life, with a special focus on spiritual life in Jesus.
Due, in large to the evangelism grant funds from the Baptist Resource Network (BRN), we were able to add some special program elements for our end of the celebration, which grew our numbers to 120 guests, including parents. Our guests were fed well and entertained well as we hosted special guest Wild World of Animals, who introduced all of us to strange and interesting creatures.
Harvest Church Petroleum Valley Campus never ceases to amaze me with their capacity to love and serve well. The following Sunday, we were blessed to see the outreach ministry rewarded with three families attending Sunday worship services at Harvest Church.
Ultimately, that is not about us, but about the God who continues to pursue His lost sheep – and we get to be a part of what He’s doing!
