#1- Mark your calendars now! The Accelerate Conference, the annual meeting of the Baptist Resource Network, is Tuesday, October 3 at the Sheraton Harrisburg Hershey Hotel. #2- Have you heard about the Accelerate Conference yet? Of course, you have! We are excited about our special guest, Jeff Christopherson, executive director of the Canadian National Baptist Convention and author of “Once You See: Seven Temptations of the Western Church.” This year’s conference will also feature an address from BRN Executive Director Barry Whitworth and worship led by Christian Recording Artist Jermaine Dolly and members of Philadelphia’s Ezekiel Baptist Church. #3- This year’s conference will also feature several practical ministry breakout sessions on a variety of topics, based on “The Seven Temptations of the Western Church,” mentioned previously. These temptations are areas where churches can be tempted to be more like western culture than the Bible. Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) will also present a breakout on how to confront the rapid embrace of radical ideas and activism surrounding gender ideology. #4- This year’s Accelerate Conference is based on the theme #LovePASJ, a three-phase initiative that seeks to accelerate a Kingdom movement of Baptist Resource Network churches loving their neighbors. #5- One more reminder about this year’s Accelerate Conference: We will host three special events during our meeting. On Monday evening, we will host a Dessert Meet and Greet with Jeff Christopherson, the author of Kingdom First, Kingdom Matrix, Venal Dogmata, and Once You See. On Tuesday morning, we will host a “Dangers Facing the Church” Breakfast presented by the Pennsylvania Family Institute. Kurt Weaver, Director of Strategic Partnerships for the Institute, will explore the dangers–and gospel opportunities–facing today’s church, which now finds itself in a post-Christian and hostile world. And on Tuesday evening, we will host a BRN Family Celebration Banquet, which will feature NAMB “musicianaries,” Eric and Anissa Haney, and a time to celebrate several BRN churches for their work in God’s Kingdom.
