NORRISTOWN, PA, (BRN) – In July 2023, Macedonia Baptist Church in Norristown, Pennsylvania, had the opportunity to reach out to our immediate surrounding community through a family cookout event and by offering various local family services.
Our event took place as planned with 98 non-Macedonia Baptist Church families attending. We had over 127 children in attendance and an overall count of 400 people throughout the afternoon.
During the event, we provided food, services and activities for free, along with entertainment and amusements. Family fun included midway games, bumper cars, game truck, Giant slides, BINGO, food and music, We gave away bookbags, school supplies and new winter coats as well. We also provided information on abortion right to life services, adoption and foster care programs, family services in our area programs, school supplies give-aways and fun family activities.
In addition to our own outreach ministries providing information and engaging individuals, the following other services were offered from our community partners: East Norriton Police Department, Amnion Pregnancy Care Center, Hopeworx, Family Services, This Girl Has Oil, Montgomery County Department of Senior Services, Women’s Center Domestic Violence Project, Laurel House, The Hospitality Center, Salvation Army Foster and Adoption Services and The Participatory Defense Initiative for Montgomery County.
Throughout the day, we prayed for 72 people/families and had the opportunity through our greeters and prayer partners to make contact with each family in attendance. We estimate that we had a total of 150 gospel conversations during the event, and we praise God for the five individuals who made the decision to begin a relationship with Jesus Christ! Each of these individuals will be followed up on to provide guidance and a path of discipleship based on their decision.
We will also be reaching out to connect with each family who attended by having our Follow-up Team call to personally thank them for attending, determine what they enjoyed, how we could have done better and any prayer needs. This will be another opportunity to minister and present the gospel once again!
