Let It Glow was a three hour event focused on loving the teens in the Kittanning, Pennsylvania area by offering them a night of fun, friends, food and, most importantly, the gospel.
Over 70 teens attended Let It Glow with 15 adults helping to chaperone. The DJ kept things lively with “DJ Games.” These consisted of games like DJ Bingo, DJ Trivia and DJ Charades. Winners were awarded prizes for their efforts.
Students were treated to a candy bar (a bar full of candy!), pizza, chips and drinks. The venue, Radioactive Events Center, was an amazing place for such an event. All the black lights made the glow paint that students were wearing stand out and offered a cool atmosphere.
Harvest Deacon, Kory Tack, shared his testimony with the teens. Kory’s story is about how God pulled him out of the muck and mire of drug and alcohol abuse as a teen through going to youth group at Harvest many years ago.
The feedback from the event were statements like, “That’s the most fun I’ve had in a long time! Thanks!” and, “When are we doing this again? I want to invite more friends!” Out of the 70+ students who attended, 28 of them indicated that they did not attend youth group anywhere. Harvest has followed up with all 28 of those students and invited them to various youth group events. Already, we have two new students at CRAVE because of the Let It Glow event. The chaperones were also given an A+ rating by the owners of Radioactive Events Center. The chaperones set everything up and, to the surprise of the owners, cleaned everything up afterwards. This left quite a good impression! Mark and Karen, owners of the event center, are planning to attend Harvest Church in the near future. Crave is already planning how to use Radioactive Events Center as a tool to reach more students with the good news of Jesus Christ!
