KITTANNING, Pa., (BRN) – Harvest Community Church’s first Laundry Love event was a huge success. Admittedly, the measure of success can be defined in many forms, but for us, it meant focused, intentional, one-on-one conversations that allowed room for the gospel to be shared.
We structured our Laundry Love by sending teams to three local laundromats in three different communities within the Kittanning, Pennsylvania, area. The teams served in their assigned laundromat for a period of four hours.
During that time, we provided coloring books and activities for the kids who came as well as lunch for all. Each team was given enough quarters to help the families wash and dry their clothes.
Since they were a captive audience, we had lots of time to get to know people in our local area. We estimate that we served a total of 89 people through the Laundry Love event.
Additionally, all three teams reported multiple opportunities to share the gospel and invite community members to church. We even saw a few familiar faces from the laundromats attending our services the weekends following the event.
This was such a successful event that our hope is to be able to repeat it again. I would encourage other ministries in other communities to try it.
