INDIANA, Pa., (BRN) – On March 30, the Indiana Campus of Harvest Church in Indiana, Pennsylvania, hosted an Easter Egg Hunt Outreach.
Rather than have the event at our church, the outreach was held for the second year in a row at Floodway Park in Homer City. This town of about 1,700 is located 15 minutes south of the church. It is an area identified in our 3-2-1 Outreach Initiative to increase awareness.
Many people are uncomfortable walking into a new church on Sunday mornings as strangers. That is why events like this one are so important.
The Indiana Campus is a very close-knit congregation, and it is our hope that the laughter, joy and love we shared with our guests and with one another, along with the message of hope they heard, would provide an incentive for them to come back and visit us for Sunday Service – no longer as strangers.
There were over 170 children who participated in the event, along with their parents and grandparents, on an overcast, drizzling day. More than 90% of the children were from the local community and not attenders of Harvest Church.
Upon arrival, the families were met with smiling faces and welcoming greetings from church members. Prior to heading to their respective starting lines, Pastor Joe shared the gospel as the true reason for the Easter season. Over 2000 stuffed eggs, along with special prize eggs, were collected in a matter of minutes.
Following the hunt, families stayed to play on the playground and eat lunch provided by the church. As with last year, this provided a fantastic opportunity to continue building relationships and have gospel conversations.
