WILLOW GROVE, Pa., (BRN) – On Sunday, March 17, the Outstanding Men of GOD (O.M.G) of First Baptist Church of Crestmont in Willow Grove, Pennsylvania, partnered with American Red Cross to host a blood drive.
During this Lent season, as we remember the sacrifice of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, who gave all of His blood, we asked our members just to give some. The church and community responded in a great way. Of the 42 people that registered and the 36 people that showed up to the drive, we were able to collect 24 units of blood, exceeding the drive goal of 20.
The topic of blood donation is an important one. Each donation can save up to three lives. There is currently a shortage of blood supply and a lack of diversity in the blood supply. Donors can give whole blood up to six times per year and we encourage anyone who is able to donate to do so.
We would like to thank our church family and community for making this blood drive a success, and we encourage more churches to consider hosting blood drives on Sundays. A special thank you to the American Red Cross for their help in coordinating this blood drive and to their onsite team for their hard work and professionalism on the day of the drive.
