HARRISBURG (BRN) – Per the Baptist Resource Network’s (BRN) recommendation, East Shore Baptist Church in Harrisburg welcomed Hannas and Jana Viljoen for a training seminar that was dedicated to equipping the church in ministering to families with special needs children.
The Viljoens run several non-profits in the area of special needs, have been interviewed by TV and radio personalities and have four children of their own, three of whom are special needs.
At the training, church leaders, teachers and members learned how to love and care for special needs families. We had 30 people attend the training, and the gospel was shared repeatedly throughout the presentation. Many, many Scripture references were shared about how all children are made in the image of God and need to be loved as such.
Additionally, we learned strategies for helping children with special needs be successful at church and how to encourage the families physically, emotionally and financially so that, instead of just surviving each day, they can thrive each day through Jesus.
