Widows in Malawi often experience abuse and shame from their communities. After the deaths of their husbands, the women’s lives become extremely difficult—emotionally, financially, and societally.
The Hope for Widows ministry was started by a Malawian widow as a way to meet the physical and spiritual needs of widows. Women from both Christian and Muslim backgrounds meet weekly to study the Bible. IMB missionary Catherine Allison said regardless of faith background, all women hear the same truths from Scripture. They are reminded to look to the cross and remember God’s love, and to look to the empty grave to remember God’s power.
THE COOPERATIVE PROGRAM is the financial fuel for reaching every person for Jesus Christ in every town, every city, every state, and every nation. Your support through the Cooperative Program provides the training and resources that missionaries like Matt and Catherine Allison need to serve on the field and minister to the helpless and hopeless.
PRAY for the Allison family as they minister in Malawi and that Malawian widows will look to Jesus as their Provider.
