NATRONA HEIGHTS, Pa., (BRN) – As the morning began, it looked like the rain might cancel our event at Harvest Community Church – Natrona Heights, but as the day went on, the sun came out and it turned into a great day.

Our members showed up with games, food, face painting and invitations to come check out our new Harvest Kidz program. There were over 600 members of our local community in attendance, and many of them stopped by our tents. We had many meaningful conversations that day.

One interaction that stands out in my mind was the chance for me to meet Eric. He is a father who works and lives in our town. As soon as we began talking it was clear that he and I had something in common: Eric is a stutterer. I also have stuttered ever since I was a child.

I have been blessed to see God’s strength in my weakness and find His comfort in the many insecurities and times of frustration I have experienced over the years. As a pastor, I appreciate the chance to minister to others by sharing my struggles, and this was an opportunity to do that in a very specific way.
That of course is just one of the many conversations our team was able to have that day. Our outreach team was encouraged to engage in one-on-one conversations, share the gospel when possible and, for this event, hand out cards and invite our guests to come and see our newly remodeled church and Kidz area. In total, we estimate that our team had at least 50 gospel conversations during the event.

We are also hopeful that we will see some of these same guests at our open house in a few weeks, where we will re-engage with them.

This event was one more step in our plan to be Christ-like neighbors to the folks around us and show the love of Christ through our love for one another. The day was a great blessing and success.
