ALLENTOWN (BRN) – Thank you for the evangelism grant that allowed us to feed 250 employees at a local high school called Dieruff.
We worked with Chick-fil-A to have box meals with a sticker on it that said, “Thank you for all that you do, from your friends at Riverbend Community Church,” for the employees and when they came in we would cheer for them.
Fun fact, this is the high school that Pastor Tim Keller and NFL hall of fame player Andre Reed graduated from. This event was on Friday, May 6 as part of teacher appreciation week. We had the opportunity to talk with these teachers and share with them that we are doing this to show the love of Jesus in a practical way, that we appreciate them and we are praying for them.
The principal of the school, Michael G. Makhoul, took our team aside and thanked us for our generosity and for being a great partner and resource to them. He also to thanked us for purchasing 4 wheelbarrows, 6 shovels, and 6 rakes for the school. These items were stated as a need and helped volunteers, including some people from our church, participate in the community cleanup day. I was also able to ask how I can be praying for them.Additionally, I was exchanging some messages with the staff and they shared this with me:
“I’m so thankful and feel so blessed that you and your family were able to do that for our staff. It was such an amazing day for them. I went home on Friday singing everybody’s praises. We are so thankful for all of you. I cannot say enough good things.” – Ms. Joanellyn (Joey) Schubert, Staff Member
“Thank you, Riverbend, for your great generosity and for being a church that walks that talk.” – Fred Montgomery, Educator This has allowed us to localize our ministry impact to a school down the road from our church building. It’s a partnership we have wanted to deepen for some time. Thank you so much!
