SHILLINGTON, Pa. (BRN) – Berks Bible Church (BBC) in Shillington, Pennsylvania, has 24 members and averages 18 in worship, mostly elderly. Last year, during Shillington’s Community Days our deacon chairman, David Leinbach, suggested we tell people BBC has “free parking and prayer.” The response was so good we did it again this summer on Fireworks Night, July 9. We were able to talk with over 60 people and pray with many.
Here’s a few stories that highlight what God did:
- Nan, the first woman to walk by the table, asked to pray for affordable housing. Joan Theisen, our pastor’s wife, prayed for her and she smiled thanking her.
- Two young adult women came by and when asked, “How can we pray for you?” they replied they didn’t need prayer. Then Joan said, “Really?” and that sparked one to ask prayer for her relationships and many other personal concerns.
- One couple that asked for prayer said they went to another church much farther away, but with the cost of gas they were looking for a closer church. BBC is within walking distance for them.
- A big man in a pick up truck pulled into the parking lot, and as soon as he got out asked John Kirlin, one of our deacons, “So where’s my prayer?” And John prayed.
It was very encouraging to see God work!
We hope to see God continue to work at future outreach events BBC has planned. Please, pray for our annual picnic at Adamstown Park on July 16 that brings new people and our Women’s Evangelism Gathering on July 30. Joan will be leading women from BBC and our sister church, El Manantial, in learning how to reach their neighbors using everyday cooking, crafts and bridging activities.
