Hello BRN Family, it’s good to be with you today!
This weekend marks the beginning of the Southern Baptist Convention’s annual meeting in Anaheim, California. There, Southern Baptists from all over our nation will gather together to worship, to be encouraged, to network, and to make important decisions.
If you have followed the news from our Southern Baptist Convention about the Sexual Abuse Task Force report, you know that this year’s meeting will likely be a difficult one. Messengers will have the opportunity to respond to the investigation and recommendations from Guidepost Solutions, who conducted a nearly year-long study on the SBC’s executive committee and its handling of sexual abuse allegations.
As always, I’d like to urge you to pray for this annual gathering, especially that it would be Kingdom-focused and honoring of our King, our Lord Jesus Christ. May we repent, lament, pray, forgive, and seek God’s wisdom about what we must do to prevent abuse in our churches and in our world. May we be open to His leading and His healing.
I pray for supernatural wisdom over all proceedings and for God’s perfect will to be accomplished. I am optimistic because whenever God exposes darkness, it is because He wants to flood His light. My prayer is that we will be encouraged more than ever to take the Gospel message, not only to the 14 million lost people here in Pennsylvania/South Jersey, but all over the world! I also pray the Lord would bind us together as brothers and sisters in Christ and that we will do whatever it takes to be a good witness to a watching world.
Please know you are in my prayers. Thank you and God bless you!
