MECHANICSBURG, Pa. — The Pennsylvania/South Jersey WMU met on November 13, 2021 at Country and Town Baptist Church in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. The 59 people who were in attendance focused on the theme, Relentless.
Sandy Wisdom-Martin, executive director of National WMU and Gail Hallman, adjunct professor at Grand Canyon University in Arizona were the featured speakers. Additional speakers included Stanley Williams, BRN’s Next Generation collegiate minister director, along with CM* and his wife DM*, current missionaries in Bangladesh.
Theresa Krieg brought the President’s Report sharing about the new children’s material, Mission Journey Kids and Children’s Mission Day. Krieg was elected to another term as president of the PA/SJ WMU. Emma Tentarelli was elected recording secretary. Serving on the 2021/2022 leadership team are Kathy Sheldon, Emma Tentarelli, Fanny Grote, Jada Baker and Aubrey King.
Sandy Wisdom-Martin spoke about WMU’s “Relentless” history. Gail Hallman shared her thoughts about “Relentless” leadership and “Relentless” community. Sandy ended the program with a call for “Relentless” commitment. Music was provided by Broken Crayon.
Jeanine Horne, former missionary to the Ukraine and Russia, led the mission project for the day. Women at the conference wrote cards (in Russian) that will be sent for distribution to women at a Russian church.
There were displays on collegiate ministries, the Light of Hope Learning Center located in Bangladesh, and WMU compassion ministries, including Pure Water, Pure Love and World Crafts. There was also a display of some mission projects that churches can use in their local churches along with a “50 Plus” idea sheet to take home. Pictures were taken with Lottie Moon, and all enjoyed the soup and sandwich lunch along with cupcakes and a personal Lottie Moon cookie.
It was a great day of fellowship, leadership development, worship and learning how to be Relentless for Him!
