National Human Trafficking Awareness and Prevention Month (Jan. 1-31)
January 1, 2022
January is National Human Trafficking Awareness and Prevention Month. Equipping the body of Christ on how to identify and respond to a potential situation is critical to ending it forever and a very practical way to Love PA/SJ.
As followers of Jesus Christ, we have access to the Holy Spirit who will enable us to discern and walk in wisdom as we seek to identify victims of trafficking. It takes a heart of compassion to be able to demonstrate love to the least of these- and it certainly takes wisdom first because there is so much evil in the world. We need Him to help us see where He wants us to engage in the fight and awareness is the key to prevention.
The problem is real, and local. In 2019, Pennsylvania was ranked 10th in the nation for reported cases of Human Trafficking. Christians across the BRN territory are needed to push back the darkness by becoming involved and learning about the evil which is occurring in our communities. A critical first step includes supporting local agencies which are focused on Human Trafficking prevention.
Now more than ever we should be aware of what is going on and discern how our churches can be a blessing by either starting a new community awareness program or partnering with an existing ministry.
May God bless you and give you wisdom as you seek to be His hands and feet in this new year! For more information on how we can help you raise awareness within your local congregation, contact the BRN at (800) 451-6599 or helpdesk@brnunited.org.
“He has told you, O man, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God” (Micah 6:8).
