BRN churches get into the Fall fun with festivals and seasonal outreaches

With the leaves changing and the air getting cooler, many of our churches are taking advantage of the seasonal change to engage with their neighbors through Fall outreach events! Check out just a few that happened this past week below:

Rolling Hills Church:

It was a perfect Fall day for Rolling Hills Church’s Trunk or Treat on Saturday, Oct. 19. The sun was shining, the temperature was warm, and the church parking lot was full of carefully decorated trunks – including a Noah’s Ark themed trunk and a Great Pumpkin/Charlie Brown trunk. Many excited trick or treators made their way to Rolling Hills with their parents to enjoy the afternoon!

Wrightsdale Baptist Church:

On Oct. 19, Wrightsdale Baptist Church in Peach Bottom, Pa., hosted over 300 people from their community for their annual Big Orange Party! Dressed in bright orange shirts, Wrightsdale volunteers engaged local families through carnival-style games, hayrides, face-painting, inflatables, music, and food.

BRN EVANGELISM GRANT: Fellowship CrossPoint youth are challenged through urban mission trip

This past summer, youth at Fellowship CrossPoint Church in Chesterfield, New Jersey, packed up and headed to Chicago, Illinois, to serve with a local church in the city. Read More

BRN EVANGELISM GRANT: Expressway Baptist shares meal and gospel with area first responders

At the beginning of Sept., Expressway Baptist Church in Freeport, Pa., hosted their annual Patriot’s Day Dinner for area volunteer fire departments, at which they provided a meal and a gospel presentation for the first responders. Read More

Delaware Valley Baptist Church celebrates new life in Christ through baptism

On Sunday, Oct. 20, Delaware Valley (Delval) Baptist Church in Willingboro, New Jersey, celebrated new life in Christ and witnessed multiple individuals be baptized. Praise the Lord for these brothers and sister in Christ! Please join us in celebrating with them and the entire Delval Church family!

Steel City Church in Pittsburgh sees one profess Jesus as Lord after tragic loss

On Oct. 20, Steel City Church in Pittsburgh witnessed the baptism of Ms. Lisa, a beloved member of their community. Earlier this year, Ms. Lisa tragically lost her son, who was also a beloved member of the Steel City community. On Sunday, the church witnessed Ms. Lisa embrace the incredible strength found in confessing Jesus as Lord. Praise the Lord for her faith! Please join us in rejoicing with Ms. Lisa and the Steel City Church family! Please also join us in praying for Ms. Lisa as she continues to heal and cling to Jesus.

Four women go public with their faith in Jesus at Grace Baptist Church in New Bethlehem, Pa.

Grace Baptist Church in New Bethlehem, Pa., celebrated four women going public with their faith in Christ on Sunday, Oct. 20. Praise the Lord for these sisters in Christ! Please join us in rejoicing with them and the entire Grace Baptist Church family!

Redeeming Grace Church rejoices over eight years of ministry

On Sunday, Oct. 20, Redeeming Grace Church in Bethel Park, Pa., celebrated their eighth anniversary! Congratulations on eight years of ministry Redeeming Grace! We are so grateful for your faithfulness to the Lord and His gospel. We are praying for your next many years of ministry!

Macala Mays

In 2022, Macala Mays stepped into her current role as Associate Editor of BRN United and Podcast Producer for the Baptist Resource Network of Pennsylvania/South Jersey (BRN). Before taking this position, she worked as a contracted Podcast Producer in 2021 and a freelance writer in 2020 for the BRN. During her time with the BRN, Macala Mays has produced three different podcast series, including 50 Stories of Transformation (2021-2022), The #LovePASJ Podcast (2022), and Celebrating Cooperative Missions (2023). She also has written over 60 articles for the BRN and has been nationally published by The Baptist Paper and Baptist Press. She is also a member of the Baptist Communicators Association (BCA). Prior to working with the BRN, Macala interned at the State Capitol of Tennessee in the Publications Division under the office of Secretary of State. She also remotely wrote news for TalkErie, a radio station in Erie, Pa., and previously worked as a News Director/Producer for WJET-TV in Erie, Pa. Macala Mays holds a master of arts in communications from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania (EUP) as well as a bachelor of arts in journalism/public relations from EUP. During her graduate years, Macala worked as a Graduate Assistant and helped manage the on-campus radio station. She also served as a managing editor for the university’s newspaper, which led to an interest in music journalism. Macala and her husband, Robbie, live in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania, where they attend Big Woods Bible Church and Robbie serves as the Associate Pastor of Campus Ministry. Both Robbie and Macala find great joy in discipling and walking alongside college students at Lock Haven University.
