FREEPORT, Pa., (BRN) – During the first week of September, Expressway Baptist Church in Freeport, Pennsylvania, held it’s annual Patriots’ Day Dinner for the four area volunteer fire departments.

Every year since 2002, the Freeport-based church shows appreciation to the four area volunteer fire men and women who serve the community. Executive Pastor John Warren preached on the Good Samaritan and shared with the over 80 people in attendance the importance of helping your neighbor as an act of worship to God.

Warren also clearly explained the importance of a relationship with Jesus Christ. Warren presented the Good News of Jesus when he explained the impossibility of keeping the Law and how Christ fulfilled all the Law with His perfect life, so that He could be the “lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world.”

It was clearly conveyed that it was Jesus’ sacrificial death on the cross, bearing the full brunt of God’s wrath for our sins, and Jesus’ resurrection that gives us victory!

The gospel was shared through this preaching time as well as through individual conversations. We estimate that a total of 20 gospel conversations took place throughout the evening.
