Hello, I’m Kenton Hunt. I’m the disaster relief director for the Baptist Resource Network of Pennsylvania/South Jersey. I’m here to call your attention to a response.

A lot of flooding took place in Lycoming, Tioga, and Potter Counties, and I am looking for volunteers right now. A lot of damage happened. We counted at least 400 homes that have been damaged. We visited with two churches that were completely destroyed, and they need a lot of help and they’re not BRN churches, but we can do Kingdom work by helping them. We are collaborating with other volunteer agencies with local government, with state government, and they are looking to us to really provide a punch and getting this work done. Of course, our D.R. volunteers are getting the notification. I’m asking them for help and to respond as quickly as possible while also issuing an invitation to those who are interested in disaster relief who perhaps have not trained yet. So I just want to give you quick information. You can do the basic online training at brnunited.org/courses.

One of the key pieces that I need for you to send or bring with you is the background check. Emergency Management loves it when I can tell them that my volunteers are background checked. You may send those to be brndr.clearances@gmail.com or simply bring that hard copy with you when you show up. Please send me an email at KentonH@brnunited.org to tell me about your interest and dates that you can be there. We’re looking for teams to start Friday, August the 16th, and we’re looking at putting teams together at least through the 24th of August. So tell me your availability. You don’t have to be there the whole time. If you can come for a day, fantastic! We do have housing for those who need to overnight, showers and all those kinds of things that we usually provide for our volunteers. Thank you for listening.
