PHILADELPHIA (BRN) – Harambe Baptist Church in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, would like to thank the Baptist Resource Network (BRN) for its generous grant of $500. It helped with expenses to grill hamburgers, hot dogs and sausages as well as provide snacks, water, ice and pretzels for our summer picnic outreach.
Also during the picnic, we were able to give away book bags to the children as well as family packets with hygiene items and several other items for family use. Additionally, we had a health table where blood pressure was taken and the children enjoyed a Game Zone.
Our community, within a span of two weeks lost three people to gun violence, one a 12-year-old boy on his birthday. Our Lord orchestrated opportunities to engage our community with a large speaker in front of our building and spread the sweet aroma of Jesus in word and deed. We prayed with several and passed out tracts.
Volunteers from Trinity Church, Kingdom Empowerment Ministries and more partnered with us as the gospel went forth on Chew and Chelten to lift up Jesus through testimonies, praise songs and dance. The highlight of the picnic was the gospel presentation to the children by child evangelism, and the adults benefited as well!
