TELFORD, Pa., (BRN) – On Saturday, May 6, 2023, Ridgeline Community Church in Telford, Pennsylvania, utilized evangelism grant funds from the Baptist Resource Network (BRN) to host a Spring Ladies’ Brunch. Highlighting the theme “Hope in an Upside Down World,” Ridgeline saw nearly 75 women and girls gather to hear a message of hope from God’s Word presented by speaker Cherie Leatherman, Ridgeline’s women’s ministry director.
Leatherman began by addressing the hopelessness many feel when assessing their lives, and the fact that Christians are not immune to this. Basically, we all have the pervasive feeling that this world is “out of control/upside down.” We need hope that is grounded in the gospel and in Jesus. We need confident assurance that our world will be put right side up. This confident assurance is only found in God’s Word.
Leatherman then proceeded to share from Genesis, referencing our Creator God’s power and authority, sovereignty and love for His creatures. She shared (1) the Bible shows us how the world turned upside down, (2) how God is going to set the world right side up again, and (3) how we can live with hope today as we wait for God to make all things new.
She also made clear that sin separates us from God, but God, through the seed of the woman, offers hope in a person – Jesus, God’s son. A clear gospel message was presented as Leatherman walked attendees through Creation, Fall, Redemption and Consummation.
At the conclusion of the talk, we prayed and dismissed to the brunch. We know of several gospel conversations that took place in the days following the event. We believe that gospel seeds were planted and we are now waiting on our gracious Lord to bring fruit in His time.
