When COVID-19 grounded International Mission Board (IMB) Â missionary Caron Johnson from travel within Brazil, she had the idea to launch virtual English classes so that Brazilian believers would be able to minister effectively, both locally and globally.
This endeavor involved connecting volunteers in the U.S. with Brazilians to meet online for English conversations. With help from Brazilian ministry partners, Johnson’s curriculum, based on the Gospel of Mark, prepared students to use what they were learning in their English classes as a ministry platform to share the Gospel of Jesus in their communities.
Brazilian Baptists cherish their partnership with Southern Baptists. They share a 139-year-old Gospel-centered relationship. English skills facilitate international dialogue and partnership among Brazilian churches, Baptist entities, and theological seminaries.
THE COOPERATIVE PROGRAM is the financial fuel for reaching every person for Jesus Christ in every town, every city, every state, and every nation. Your support through the Cooperative Program gives missionaries the resources they need to train local believers in how to share the Gospel, no matter the circumstance.
PRAY for Brazilian believers as they use their new language skills to share about Jesus as well as for other churches across the U.S. to consider launching Bible-based ESL classes.
