With the U.S. Supreme Court currently considering Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, this is a critical moment for churches, Christians, and faith-based organizations to take a clear stand in favor of innocent life. As pro-life advocates around the country prepare for the possibility of a nation without Roe v. Wade, it is imperative that the church – pastors and congregants alike – be equipped to discuss the sensitive issue of abortion. A research study conducted by Barna Research Group titled Faith Leadership in a Divided Culture reveals that 90% of pastors believe it is a major part of their role to help Christians have biblical beliefs about specific social issues, but only 7% of pastors believe that their congregations are “very well-equipped” to have conversations about specific social issues like abortion. Meanwhile, parishioners are seeking to be equipped to discuss these issues. Most pastors (69%) say that they feel pressure from inside the church to speak out on moral and social issues. When it comes to the issue of abortion, 18% of pastors feel limited in their ability to speak about abortion, while 17% feel pressured to speak about abortion. Pastors need resources to help equip their congregations to stand for biblical truths. That is why ADF’s Church Alliance team has put together a resource that breaks down the topic of abortion and gives a starting point for conversations around healing and ministering to those affected by abortion. God wants to use His Church to end inhumane practices like abortion through the loving proclamation of the Gospel. We are in a pivotal time. You and your church have an incredible opportunity to transform hearts, minds, and the culture to see unborn children as God does. Download your resource here.
