One Team

About Our Team

The BRN team is here to serve you in three primary components of being a healthy church: Missional Engagement, Intentional Discipleship, and Leadership Development.  Our ministry Directors lead the administrative staff and field staff from each of the four BRN regions to support our churches in these important emphases.

Larry Anderson

Larry Anderson

Healthy Churches Director

Larry L. Anderson, Jr. is a North Philadelphia native who now resides in Glenside, PA. The Lord has blessed him with a wonderful wife, Kim, and three beautiful children, Marquis, Darius, and Gabrielle.  Dr. Anderson graduated from Philadelphia Biblical University with a B.S. in Bible, with an emphasis in Christian Leadership. Later, he received his Master of Divinity and Doctorate in Ministry Degrees from Biblical Theological Seminary. He has served as pastor of Great Commission Church since 2004. He was the first African American professor to serve on the faculty of Biblical Theological Seminary in Hatfield PA, where he also directed the urban and the doctoral programs. Dr. Anderson joined the Baptist Resource Network staff in April 2013 as the Director for Healthy Churches.  His team’s primary emphasis is helping churches focus on health, particularly in regards to discipleship and leadership development.

Pam Smith

Pam Smith

Missional Living Director

Pam Smith loves Jesus with all of her heart and she loves to tell His story. Having experienced salvation at age nine and calling to missions service at sixteen, she has traveled extensively—in all parts of the U.S. and 24 foreign countries—as a missionary with a Gospel message. An author and teacher, Dr. Smith holds Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry degrees from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and has served with local church, state convention and national SBC agencies throughout her ministry career. Originally from SC, she now lives in Harrisburg, PA where she is the Missional Living Director with the Baptist Resource Network of Pennsylvania/South Jersey.  Her team’s primary emphasis is helping church members missionally engage their communities. “The challenge of my life,” she says, “is trying to be what Jesus would be if He lived in person where I do, then leading others to be the same.”

Barry Whitworth

Barry Whitworth

Multiplying Churches Director

Barry Whitworth currently serves as the Multiplying Churches Director with the Baptist Resource Network of Pennsylvania/South Jersey and as Send City Coordinator for Philadelphia and Pittsburgh (NAMB, SBC). Barry’s team is primarily responsible for new church planting and development of new leaders and ministries from our existing churches.  Barry is married to Beth, for 35 years, and has two daughters and six grandkids. His ministry objective is to be involved in God’s activity to start and strengthen churches that will be instrumental in making disciples who transform communities locally and globally with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. “I have had the privilege of church planting, pastoring and transitioning declining churches in Maryland, Pennsylvania and New York,” Whitworth says. “I have also had the opportunity of indirectly assisting in starting over 30 churches in Pennsylvania and New York and training and mentoring over 100 pastors and church planters in the Northeastern United States.” Whitworth enjoys outdoor activities, photography, woodworking, hunting, fishing, boating, football (rooting for the Steelers and Penn State) and “hanging out” with his wife and family. His favorite Scripture verse is Galatians 2:20.
